How I love my pets - Giving your pets vaccinations

Giving our pets shots and vaccinations regularly is the best thing we can do for them. It is one of our responsibilities for our pets and most probably the best way to show our love for them.

Just like humans, animals needs to have shots to prevent them from certain diseases. Through vaccinations the animal's immune system is stimulated to protect itself against distemper, rabies, parvo, leptospirosis, hepatitis, heartworm and parasites. The rabies shots are given every year while the rest are given every 6 months or according to what your veterinarian would schedule. No matter what, you must follow it so as not to disrupt the effects of the vaccines and redo it again after sometime.

If you would notice that our pets sometimes gets sick after having shots but some pets don't, that is because vaccinations is actually giving our pets a less severe of the disease or related disease, with the idea that it is better to be a little sick now rather than a lot sicker later. Vaccines are just pieces of the virus and it don't actually transmit the disease. Being sick after having shots is just a reaction to the vaccines.

Be aware also that pets shouldn't be given a bath for about 4 or 5 days after vaccination cause they will be sick. Bathing animals is stressful for them and after vaccinations, they are usually weak because of the effects of the vaccines. Some animals should have rest and stressing them more might cause them to have complications. Also always have a record of your pet's vaccinations so they won't miss any vaccines.

Everything I wrote describes how I take care of my pets. This is how I repay my pets for the unconditional love they give me. I precious my pet's life so I have their regular vaccines every year done by a veterinarian, in order to save them from getting sick or infected and because I want to spend many years with them. I hope you do the same with your pets too.

MY PERSONAL TIPS AND ADVICES ON
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR PETS

House training pets is very important cause it is a way of disciplining our pets. If your pet is house trained then you wouldn't experience problems in cleaning the house from pees and poops. Pets trained are much easier to take care too.

I have trained my pets on my own. My shih tzus knows obedience training and one of my best accomplishment is that they know how to do their business only on newspapers. I have trained them at an early age of 4 months.

If you want to train your pet start very early when they are still trainable and when they are still obedient. Do the training everyday and with only one word for one action so it won't confuse them. Remember, animals don't exactly understand what you are saying cause they only distinguish commands according to their sound. So just use one and the same word for one action or command. Say it loud and clear. You can also add hand gestures but just the same one gesture for one command. You also have to do the training sessions where there is less distraction for the pet.

Pets also needs motivation. You have to reward them if they have done good or followed your command right. Giving them a biscuit is one way to reward them. But praising them every now and then is the best way to tell them they're such a good pet.

Pets can be a good company especially if they are trained. A pet owner must know their responsibility on training them. If you don't know how, you can always hire the services of experts but for me, it's much better to train them yourselves. It helps to develop the bond between pet owners and their pets during the training. But best of all, it is an accomplishment for the pet owner.

MY SON AND MY GRANDSON

I have been a fan of hairy dogs. Ever since I was a kid I have always wanted a small dog with lots of hair. I was only about 6 years old then and I don't know yet what kind of breed I would want to have. For me, as long as it's hairy, its perfect. But it was only year 2001 when I was able to have my very own pet, a male shih tzu and I named him Carey.

My pet Carey changed my life I'd have to say. He is very sweet pet and so obedient and good. I treat him as my real child since I am still single. Having him made me more responsible and made me feel like a real mother and I am so happy having him. Even better when Carey had a litter of his own. Now I am a mother and a grandmother too :-)

Taking care of a hairy dog, a shih tzu requires a lot of time especially with the grooming. You have to give time on combing the hair everyday. At least two (2) times a day to prevent the hair from tangling that if not given much attention will cause the hair to matte. If it happens it would hurt the pet if you try to brush the hair to untangle it unless, you shave the hair.

The shih tzus hair on its head should be tied up. This is so to prevent the hair from getting into their eyes so it won't irritate the eyes. Irritation on the eyes might cause retinal problems that might lead to a more serious eye condition. Besides, shih tzus are dogs that are known to have pony tails or sometimes called fountain on their head.

In general, all pet dogs needs special attention. They should be treated as members of the family and be given the best care they deserve. Dogs are loyal friends and they don't ask or wait for something in return. I find dogs to be the best pet a human can ever had. They are like kids too and whats amazing is that, they can somehow communicate with their human family.
